William Milton Asher is an American film producer, director and screenwriter. He was one of the best early television directors, producing or directing more than two dozen television series. With television in its infancy, Asher premiered the sitcom Our Miss Brooks, which was adapted from a radio show. He began directing I Love Lucy in 1952. Due to his early success, Asher was considered a "TV Leader" and was grossly noted in a magazine article for "inventing" the sitcom. In 1964, he began directing episodes Bewitched, with his wife Elizabeth Montgomery. He produced the season four series Asher was nominated for an Emmy four times, once a winner for director Bewitched in 1966. He was also nominated for the 1951 DGA Award for I Love Lucy.
